Bildungsurlaub Educational Leave
Bildungsurlaub Educational leave is a unique form of leave that allows professionals in Germany undergo specialist, professional and advanced training.
At UCD ELA we offer an immersive experience for our students incorporating General English practice with Exam, Business and Cultural English at Ireland’s largest university. During our programme students will be able to truly improve their English skills, experience the Irish culture and history, while meeting people from all corners of the world.

Bildungsurlaub English Course
Our Bildungsurlaub course provides students with an immersive experience that combines General English practice with Exam, Business, and Cultural English. Students will join existing group classes at UCD English Language Academy.
Classes are held Monday to Friday (5 days tuition per week). See course timetable below.
2023 Course start dates:
Mondays: 11th Sep; 2nd Oct and 6th Nov.
2024 Course start dates:
Every Monday (subject to availability).
There will be no classes on the public holidays. Classes will commence on the Tuesday following the bank holiday Monday. Please note that tuition hours lost due to public holidays are non-refundable.

Bildungsurlaub Course Timetable
Bildungsurlaub is an intensive programme which consists of 30 lessons per week.
We have flexible start dates for this programme. Please contact us for specific start date options.
Accommodation Options
On-Campus Apartments
Students have the option to stay in one of our on-campus residential accommodation, available during the summer months (June, July and August). All apartments are self-catering, well-equipped and on a single room and private bathroom basis.
All apartments are located within walking distance of classes and of all UCD campus facilities. Campus safety is of top priority and there is 24-hour security in operation throughout the campus.

Homestay
Students can optimise their spoken English within a short timeframe, by staying with a host family. Accommodation is homestays is arranged year-round, with carefully selected host families.
